Terralytiq and Duke University partner to decarbonize industrial electronics

Press Release // September 20, 2023 // Austin, TX

Terralytiq and Duke University are excited to announce their partnership to develop solutions to the decarbonize industrial electronics. As investment surges into strategic semiconductor supply chains and chips play a greater role in modern machinery’s efficiency, automation, and connectivity, decarbonizing electronics will make significant contributions to the net-zero transition.

Indeed, large original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and semiconductor fabs have set ambitious targets to reduce their Scope 3 emissions within their supply chains. However, the complexity of components and the opacity of global supply chains have made progress towards net-zero emissions difficult to deliver.

Building on Duke’s world-class research capabilities and Terralytiq’s technology platform, this collaboration aims to provide actionable pathways for achieving deep decarbonization in this critical sector. Duke and Terralytiq will develop an innovative tool and analytical approach tailored to decarbonize electronics from wafers to chips to advanced components.

“Duke brings a multi-disciplinary approach and world-class research capabilities across industrial operations and deep decarbonization” said Will Glazener, Co-founder and COO of Terralytiq. We are excited to collaborate with the Nicholas School on this important endeavor.”

“We’re excited to expand Terralytiq’s industry-proven approach and technology platform to provide decarbonization solutions to a largely unsolved sector” Luana Lima, Assistant Professor at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment and Associate Director for Educational Programs at the Nicholas Institute for Energy Environment and Sustainability.
